Eric Hoyt is an associate professor of Media and Cultural Studies at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Hoyt has been part of multiple digital humanities projects throughout his career. He brings a new perspective to the “down and dirty” of creating and maintaining digital archives. He argues that you don’t necessarily need a huge grant to get started with a valuable project, you just need to get in and dig around to see what you might find and accomplish. Indeed his advice for digital humanists is to “be able to get your hands dirty and not expect everything to be perfectly automated or perfectly timed.”
